DO THE TYRELL BOOKKKKKKKK
As a trombonist I love playing this song lol
Thank you
well that's a nice sound.
Thank you for including your equipment specs in the description -- You play beautifully, have a gorgeous horn . . I will aspire to your sound.
Magnificent performance Toby! Crespo was Uruguayan but worked in Germany, founding the German Brass Ensemble. "Improvisación No. 1" was played last Sunday 4-26th, 2024 by Pablo Fenoglio, soloist at the Orquesta Estable del Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires, after Nino Rota´s Concerto for Trombone and Orquestra.
What book is it from? thanks.
Thank you for this video. Im playing this as a last minute solo tomorow and your video really helped me prepare it 😊
Can i ask a thick question please why are you using two stereo mics what pattern are you getting?. tx
It never occurred to me to play that high C in first… interesting and a must try!
lovely
Need the series to continue... amazing sound
I’m a bass trombonist in highschool and funnily enough this is probably one of the easier rocut etudes out of all of them. I’ve played 1,2,4,5,6 and 7 but out of all them I found 2 the easiest to grasp. Love from Sweden
I’ve been practicing this exact piece for over a month now and the middle section has me questioning my choices 💀 but I’m willing to keep practicing this because I want to play this so bad. Love from a Swedish trombonist
Just wanted to say thank you, I'm playing this for solo and ensemble (as a solo) this year and this video greatly helped.
This must be the dream, inspiring a whole generation god I'm up this late listening to you play aspiring to sound like you one day. Prof. Oft you have made it I hope to someday join you at NEC for grad school my teacher attended there and now one of my best friends will be auditioning there hope to be under your tutelage soon!
This is seven years too late but I wanted to thank you from perhaps a different perspective than others. I recently retired from a 30 year teaching/conducting career and I am now trying to get myself back into playing shape for the sheer joy and recreation of it. As someone watching these from a different phase of playing and life than probably most, I find myself generally only able to do real practice when my wife is asleep so that has to be on the mouthpiece only. Being able to play along on my mouthpiece to your beautiful and artistic performances have not only been extremely helpful but thoroughly joyful.
This comment made my whole week 🎉🤗. Thank you for your kind words ❤
Very nice. Thank you for sharing :)
Hi is this arrangement available for purchase at all as it is perfect in its simplicity many thanks Richard
Toby you are great....... My only problem is with Crespo piece, which I consider one of the most useless ugly and senseless compositions ever wrote... You give it some sense... Great, as always...
you are great man! thank you so much for sharing this important ideas with us
Youre a great trombone player. Im in high school in mississippi, but we've got similar tones, and if at all possible, would live to try and collab with you. Youve got a beautiful sound. Great job.
“At all times, sound with a vocal tone.” Wise words to live by!

Thanks!
Can you post the Link in the Comment Section? 😊
legendary!!!!!
8 years later and i still want to play this.
I need this sheet music
Wonderful. I like Bolero Ravel. Very good. Congratulations. Brazil !!
Hello Mr. Oft!! Thank you for the encouraging words. I am using this piece as a solo for my audition to a youth orchestra. I’ll work hard so that I am as good as you are one day. Again, thanks for the video.
Sounds like a dream, it sound so playful and adventurous like a hike in a lush forest. Thank you for making my day!
So beautiful, Toby!!
Dear Maestro Toby, I am a Chinese trombone player who has admired you for a long time, and the trombone I am currently using is also your signature model, due to some internet reasons in China I cannot find more practice pieces, so I am taking the liberty to bother you. Maybe I can have a photo or a pdf of it?about “Bordogni Rochut”.This is very important to me, thank you very much, I hope I can learn more with your help, thank you again and sorry for my presumption. Have a good day!
1:01 has to be the most beautiful tone I have ever heard on trombone. I can’t put into words how wonderful this piece is and it is executed with so much expression. Thank you
joe Alessi gives him a run for his money!
I VIVIDLY remember playing in band with Toby in the early 90s. He was LIGHT YEARS ahead of all of us. (We were a fairly decorated band, as well) 🏅
"look at the moon, look at the moon" - pep band 1990, I think 🤔
I miss these
Bravo!
Toby, beautiful playing, in fact, these two performances of Bolero were the best I have ever heard during a lifetime of following the Bolero solo.
where can i find this arrangement?
Everything about your playing, from the depth of the sound itself to the most minor details in your articulation is incredible. Thank you for making these videos to help me and all the other people here with these pieces.
Ever since this video came out, I come back every couple of months to listen to it. Thank you for playing this <3
bro this sounds like a shiloh song
Time stamps for all of the GMEA district trombones out there: 0:26 He starts playing 0:40-0:59 Measures 5-10 0:59 Measures 11-16
I often come back here to remind me of 2 things 1. How far I need to go 2. Why I love the trombone

These videos help me so much with my playing! Thank you so much for making these videos sir. Your tone in particular is amazing, to say the least.
Wow, that was just beautiful 😍
Holy cow! And I'm supposed to play that? Oh boy. Great Job!
I wish is was a Bach 42 vs the Edwards. I play a Bach 42AF and a Bach 36. Would never play Bolero on the 36
